About World School Santa Cruz
World School Santa Cruz is forming a new Prek-8 public charter school with the goal of providing a public international education in the Santa Cruz region. We are planning the school startup for a period in the late 2018-19 school year.
Why a new school of choice, and why now? We believe in an education that teaches “International Mindedness”, a phrase that is used in the International Baccalaureate Schools to describe an outlook upon our place and our responsibilities as members of a global community. We share one planet.
The mission statement of the International Baccalaureate Organization expresses the intentions of World School Santa Cruz.
The initial phase of WSSC operations will accommodate up to 80 students in grades 1-8, with plans to extend the school on an annual basis. An important goal is to provide continuous IB education to students from school entry to their transition to a Diploma level Program. Currently the IB Diploma Programme is offered at Scotts Valley HS.
After its initial development stage, the school will seek candidacy and then authorization with the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) , as well as accreditation as a premier California public Charter School.
The IBO authorizes educational programs for students from age 3 to the completion of Secondary education, PreK-12. Our ultimate goal is to insure a full continuum of the International Baccalaureate education program options for families and students in the Santa Cruz region and to work in collaboration with sister IB Programme schools in Northern California to promote the ideals of this educational framework.
If you choose to provide your contact information we will continue to update you on our progress as we move to establish our school as a California Public Charter School.
